Facilities

The Department of Deciduous Fruit Trees in Naoussa covers an area of 20 hectares where are offices, a library and a conference room. In its fields there is a greenhouse, mist irrigation benches and insect proof chambers.

In the central premise in Naoussa are well equipped laboratories for:

o    Plant physiological analyses CO2/H2O gas analyzer, Pressure bomb, chlorophyll fluorescence, SPAD etc

o    Chemical analyses in leaf and fruit tissue (proteins, antioxidants, nutrient content, viruses etc)
Atomic absorption, Two Diode Array UV-Visible spectrophotometers, Gas Chromatograph, Kendjal, Centrifuges, Flame photometer, Light microscopy with image analyser, Various types of furnaces (up to 1800οC), Μicro-dismembranator, Freeze drier, Deep Freeze Chamber (-80οC), Electrophoreses, ΕLISA, PCR etc.

o    Analyses of fruit physical characteristics Chromatometer, Resistance to pressure, Balances, Refractometer

The institute has developed in structure and staffing, and is able to contribute in the execution of general and particular projects of national or European agricultural research.
